K and I went to dinner at a couple's house in our ward on Sunday and ever since then this song has been stuck in my head. Why, you ask? Because if you sing "everyday I'm..." to their two year old, he'll answer, "shuffbling." So freakin' cute. Also, when I went to find out about this music video I found out that Quest Crew members choreographed the dance moves for the video. Quest Crew won the third season of America's Best Dance Crew and are AWESOME.
(Also, shout out to Shayli, my old co-worker at IS who introduced me to this song and can sing "everyday I'm shufflin'" like you wouldn't believe. She is great.)
Here's the music video for Party Rock Anthem, enjoy.
If you know me you know that I am a huge Dashboard Confessional fan. I have been since I was a 14 year old ninth grader at Lehi Junior High School, thanks to my then-best friend Mckall. Lately I've been on a Dashboard kick while driving to and from work in my car. (And let's be honest, I spend probably a good 2 hours in my car each day.) I'll be honest I'm not a huge fan of the album The Shade of Poison Trees (released in 2007), but the other 5 albums I love.
I've been acquainting myself with their 2009 album, Alter the Ending. I bought it when it first came out but haven't listened to it much, instead choosing to listen to their older albums. But after listening to it for the last couple of days, I am a huge fan. Most of the album tracks are about taking hold of your own destiny and "altering the ending" of your life.
I've been thinking about that lately, just taking a hold of my life, not just letting life pass me by. Life gets so busy sometimes it's hard to remember you can choose how your life happens. Here is the title track to Alter the Ending, enjoy.
"I know that yesterday is gone and it won't come back to me...
There'll be twists and turns, they're pulling us and tearing at the seams
But I'll meet you where we started once again...
Maybe we were right to carry on, to carry on.
And when tomorrow comes and we've shown everyone
What they can never take away..."
You know when you hear a song that perfectly describes how your day is going, or how you're feeling, or just how life has been lately? Yeah, me too. And that's why I created this blog. Inspired by my lovely friend Stephanie over at my-lyrical-life.blogspot.com, this blog is a place where I can post lyrics that inspire me, describe me, or just plain entertain me.
